The coleslaw was overdressed and bordering on soggy. The fish was cooked perfectly, and the fries were crisp and hot. We both had scallops and shrimp, my wife opting for Cajun style shrimp in her basket. Dessert is offered as well, but we didn’t partake on this visit.Īs seafood is the focus here, we each ordered a pick two basket, which allows you a choice of two seafood offerings with French fries and coleslaw. Pina coladas, daiquiris, bloody Marys and the like provide an alternative for those not interested in beer or wine. Frozen drinks and various wine offerings are served in plastic cups as well. There is a substantial, although not particularly interesting, bottled beer list. There are burgers and a few sandwiches and salads available, as well as the usual fried staples, like onion rings and French fries. The menu is simple, with an emphasis on fried seafood. I’d imagine it’s lovely, and busy, when the sun is shining in this seasonal vacation area. We opted to sit outside as it was warm and humid. It was fairly quiet when we visited, with never more than five or so parties. We recently stopped in for lunch on an overcast Wednesday. If you’ve been to the ocean, you’ve seen places like this. There is a takeout window and waiting area for those who would rather take their order to go. to the sea, such as sails hanging from the ceiling and the odd buoy here and there. There is indoor seating, as well as a good sized deck that looks out on Newfound Lake just across the street The Big Catch is fairly typical of clam shacks you’d find dotting any shore area during the summer.
